Many doctors suggest light exercise to keep healthy for moms and babies. Pregnancy yoga is a great example of the light exercise and meditation that would benefit a pregnant woman. During the second and third trimesters, prenatal yoga is the most beneficial.  The first trimester often brings morning sickness and slight changes, but when the baby begins to grow is when yoga helps the most.

There are many poses that are recommended for yoga in pregnancy classes. These are more relaxed poses that have you concentrate on breathing and balancing your center. Some of these poses include; Butterfly Stretch, Cat-Cow, Cobra (not face down), Side Angle pose, Standing forward bend, and Triangle pose.  During the first trimester, a woman is recommended to be very careful with any type of workout. The further along in your pregnancy progresses, you will learn your limits and how far you can push your body.
If you are more comfortable staying home and doing a light workout, then a pregnancy yoga DVD may be a better option for you. There are many warnings with doing a yoga workout at home while pregnant. You may want to have someone with you just in case of any complications or problems that could occur. If having someone there is not a possibility, then having a phone nearby for emergencies is a suggestion.
