Yoga Nidra is popularly understood as a form of meditation, although in direct translation, it means “yogic sleep.” It is said that in Yoga Nidra, one has passed through the waking state, through the dream state, into a deep sleep, and yet remains completely awake. This deep sleep state is yoga nidra, rather than yoga nidra being the process of meditation, itself.
