For many beginner yoga practitioners, the hardest part is where to begin. One effective place to begin is with the right equipment, and for this step, consider purchasing a yoga set. A yoga set or yoga mat set can vary in terms of the specific contents of each set, but is essentially a collection of the basic tools used in a typical yoga class, specifically, a yoga mat, yoga blocks, and a yoga strap.
Certain yoga sets may contain various additional pieces equipment, depending on their specific function. For instance, a yoga starter set may include the above-mentioned items, plus a manual of postures, instruction booklet on the specific function of each tool, and/or a beginner DVD, to help the individual get started on the right path. Other yoga mat sets could include a mat bag, specifically designed to transport your yoga mat and other accessories, eye covers for meditative supine positions, or various yoga bolsters.
A yoga DVD set is also a helpful way to begin your yoga practice, or to add variety to your present routine. Yoga DVDs are an excellent tool that allows practitioners to exercise in the comfort of their own home at any time of day or night. The atmosphere of a yoga class setting and an in-person instructor is generally preferred for its motivational and community aspects.  However, for those individuals who cannot afford to pay for regular classes or whose schedules will not permit them to get to the gym or studio regularly, instructional DVDs are a great alternative that still provide instruction and structure to daily workouts.
When selecting a yoga set of DVDs, it is advisable to research the available resources first. Look for instructors that are certified and recommended by other at-home yoga practitioners. Also consider purchasing a variety of DVDs, in order to keep your workouts interesting. Choose two or more instructors that you like so that you can experience several different styles of teaching, and rotate the DVDs in and out of your workout schedule. Also be sure that each of the DVDs in your yoga set has a different focus. One might provide an intense and challenging series of poses, while another might focus more on relaxation and breathing techniques.
Regardless of the yoga set that you choose to go with, this collection of yoga tools will help to provide a varied and effective workout, either at home or at the studio.
